what are difficulties with putting a small block mopar in these? Easy Peasy, just cut down the center of the crossmember and have the oil pan set down in that area. Thats for a 360 though. Its been too long since we've messed with a 318 in one of these and they don't have enough power imo Cool. Im putting a built 360 in mine. Ive heard horror storries about the starter not clearing the steering box.

Ive always run box car Imps...but they were recently outlawed around me..trying to learn about these things now. Just started building one 69 2 door... and bought 2 more ;D the infamous battery tray spot was rotted out, I patched it and welded a plate on the frame for good measure. Trunk was rotted about 12" square, patched it. Drivers floor was toasty around the frame...patched it and plug welded the new 1/4" floor pan to the frame Its getting a pointy mopar welded straight to the beam next week. Im short leafing it with 9 per side, using my 360/727 and running a 9" with 4.56 welded gear....I can plate and chain the humps. What else am I missing? After the battery box area, I would say the next major spot to make sure it is solid in front frame area from the bottom of the front doors through the front fender-well

bigr yes 61-63 had shorter wheelbase, 61-65 has rearend with removable cover and 66-69 had 9 3/8 rearend that a 9 inch third member will work. Two doors are just as good as four doors.

Ran my first suicide a couple of weeks ago; everything went well except the driver's side frame rail collapsed a little right behind the spring pocket. This is the only frame damage... was this bad luck, typical, or something I did wrong?
And thanks to anyone who had posted tips, I did a lot of research for this build and it turned out great!

Before and after pics: Any insight as to why it bent this way and how to fix it? Thanks.

my first inclination is because your bumper is mounted so far above the beam. and the shocks are so long

Shocks are collapsed all the way and bumper is slid all the way back to the uprights that connect the frame to the frame in the fenders. I wanted bumper height and had seen many pics of cars with bumpers that high so I figured suicides could handle it, may have been wrong... I knew it would place some stress on the frame but thought it would bend in front of the a-arms. Still my first suicide build and happy to no steering issues. Figure out how to fix this one for another run and then start on the next one. Have any ideas throw them at me, I'm not against experimenting.
