The 03 and up crossmembers and their frame mounts are a whole different ball game than the older cars....

Frame usually collapses in the top body mount holes at the firewall.... if you make sure certain things stay put in that area your car will live a lot longer..... don’t bother asking me to elaborate....

So for my first 03 I have the front suspension planned out, but now working on the rear end and suspension. I was thinking of maybe taking the mount off a 90s Vic and welding them on a 03 and using the control arms and mounts off the 90s to bolt a 10 bolt up to it. Just wondering if this works, or if I’m blowing smoke.

rear explorer struts are 19.69" fully extended, vic front struts are 15.5". i used 05-up f150 struts which are around 7" longer than vic struts. my bumper was 30" (top of bumper to the ground) with 5.50-15. Damm lol. I can’t use f150 struts my bumper height rule is 22 inches max. I also used spindles (no frt brakes) and ball joints from a 2wd 97-02 f150. the ball joints fit without any cutting (a little grinding). the lower ball joints mounts with the stud facing down just like original ball joint. I use the tie rod ends and the adjsutment sleeves from the 97-02 f150, the inner tie rod had to be cut, drill and threaded so it can be used as a sleeve for the inner tie from the rack. I put the vic springs and strut mounts on the f150 struts (i cut half of a coil out of the spring before i sold the car). the long strut is a pain in the a$$ to put in. all this can be done with stock parts.

Anybody have the new ski inc knuckle? This might be a dumb question but which knuckle does it replace on the factory rack? The one on the rack from factory or the 2nd knuckle on the column?

I have had the factory rack has ripped off its mounts 6 times already , not sure the real purpose of the ski inc knuckle is, also there are 3 steering sleeves on the stock column One of the weakest points , besides no way to protect upper ball joint from collapsing . old school steering box would solve a lot of issue's

I’m sure it’s been asked and answered a lot any simple ways to mount my 350 into 04 vic? Depending on rules you can get a bolt in cradle that is a older style ford/gm with angle iron and spring pockets built in...There are a few different designs out there. I have welded in a cradle from a ford and mounted everything in there. If you have to have aluminum cradle still in you can run a steel "cover" or just plates over the aluminum part and make the angles for the mounts to sit down on like a older style and weld in where you can. A Lot has to do what your allowed to do rules wise...
