Where should I place the shackle on the frame. I see there's a little hole closer to the humps should I go through there ? Do you have to have a shackle? Better off to solid mount it if you can.

I have a aftermarket column here here I'll sell ya for 50 bucks I've ran it in old iron mopars and wife ran it in her dippy. It's all complete all you need is a quick connect wheel to clip on

owen11x you got a pic of a welded solid mount no shackle? I don't have any pics at all of any ways I've done leafs actually. I have always used a shackle of some sort though whether stock or homemade when moved inline with frame I just plated frame both sides about 6inches blew a hole threw both sides made a 1/4" plate hanger and bolted it that way. Never used the chinsy rubber shackles unless was stock class but I always break them

So, I ran a 77 Plymouth Volare recently, was my second ever derby car ran it in a street stock class. Got 5th out of ten, had the factory 7 1/4 rear end in it, and I broke the driver's side axle in it. I also found out that the factory steel back bumpers on these are junk Lol. I did learn a few things from it though, 1 change factory fender bolts to bigger bolts, and don't use the factory 7 1/4 rear end. If I build another one for street stock, I'd like to build a 9 1/4 for one. The front frame also bent right where there was a giant rust hole in the floor, need to fix that, bent an A-arm, but the back end is folding in nicely. Just got to put a new axle in it, fix the A-arm, and pull out the front clip and itll be ready to go again.
