Cars that do not belong here
the early 60's fullsize cars with a removable front subframe (Chrysler Newport, 300, NYer, etc.) can be lumped in with the 65-73 Y frame cars... go to that tips thread for those
Imperials have their own thread, not discussed here
Cars that do belong here
any full size Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, or DeSoto brand with a full frame chassis

But the Y is way differant in these cars, Its angeled outward. So how is the build for the Y's the same if they look nothing alike?

Shouldn't it be 1960 and older mopars if you want it to be the full frame mopars

But the Y is way differant in these cars, Its angeled outward. So how is the build for the Y's the same if they look nothing alike? good question ... for the same reason that a 67 Satellite and a 67 Dart are in the same thread: because although the chassis is visually different, the vast majority of the things you would type out as a build tip for one still applies to the other. There might be one or two oddball items that you would do different but that can also be expressed in the thread along with everything that does apply. Shouldn't it be 1960 and older mopars if you want it to be the full frame mopars I agree with this in principle and maybe that would be a better way to do it, but if we were to do that we should also change the title of the Y frame thread to show that it includes the 61-64 full size subframe cars. Might get a little messy there, and since those are far more common than these we thought it would make the most sense to have the messy part in the lesser used category. The tricky part is in keeping the tips threads clean, concise, and easy for people to navigate. The strategy we went with here is to use the title of this thread as a "catch all" for the models that don't fit the rest of the categories, then in the first post explain what belongs here and where to go otherwise. Perfect? No, but whatever strategy you choose is bound to make more sense to some people and less to others so you really can't win

Personally I have always considered 1961 through 1973 y framers because that's what they are. Regardless of the subframe differences. Imo. The same principles should be applied to all of them.

The same principles should be applied to all of them. no argument here.... but most people consider the term "Y frame" to apply to 65-73, so again, it's a judgement call about what is the least confusing way for the majority of people to address the organization of the threads. Once again, to be clear, the 1961-1964 full size subframe cars will be discussed in the 1965-1973 Y frame tips thread.... not hereWhat does a 58 desoto frame look like ? 58 DeSoto is a full frame car and this is the right tips thread to discuss it
