I didn't see anything when doing a search, but are s10 a arms better than Y frame a arms? I got a pair, which I was going to put on a vic, but thought I'd try on my mopar, and I noticed to have the spindle straight, you flip the drivers and passengers side control arms. AM I gaining any height?

On a 64-66 Imp,is the factory steering box as good as it gets? Or is there something better that is a direct bolt on?
Thx, Shawn

Steering box rarely fails..its the ball joints and lower control arms that need the attention

Ok. Wasn’t for sure. Took an imp to BB. Broke 2 boxes. I know BB is its own animal. Track is stupid hard.

It dont matter what you bring to BB you can for surely expect to drive with no steering at least once. Im assuming BB is hard on boxes because its absorbing a solid impact but idk i can't say but yeah that doesnt apply to an average build lol

Steering stops are the only way to save steering boxes. Period. Once they are forced past their mechanical limits. They break.

Or just don’t go hitting cars with your wheels. I just watched a video of a car full tracked a car with right front wheel into left rear lost his wheel lol

If your not adding steering stops your probably missing the tiny factory ones by the time your making ride height where you want anyways too...I see too many guys think they got a dick hard car make stupid shots at bash....the rear ends are all in the dirt as stiff as the come and guys are running up the back of em like it won't hurt...then again I'm the guy running the front end a little lower than the rest for that same reason...defense is still important

I think part of the steering box failure can be contributed to 10,000 pound car, with solid suspension, solid tires, on a track that at times is as hard as concrete. Things have to give, and when you give up the normal parts (like tires flexing), it translates to the next weakest link.
That rule set though has kind of exceeded the limit for steering. Most of those cars are held together by a 727 balljoint which is a whopping .89" at the biggest part of the shank. With the longer hump plate and all that, backends can be an animal and the cars are way more then hard enough in the front, the steering is just the weak link.

We did have steering stops. Lesson learned. Wanted to try it once. I didn’t run the car at BB just helped build it. Appreciate the input.
