I've already redone the gaskets for a second time. Not enough vacuum to change anything with ether. Haha imma have to go down and pick up my other 318 and see if it'll fire up. And yes I took a Ford motorcraft off of a buddies truck and used it still wouldn't idle unless the choke was fully closed. Put the Holley into his truck and it ran.

if the carb is good, your plugs and wires are all good, timing is bang on and it still won't run without choke YOU HAVE A VACUUM LEAK, there is no other explanation. 100% vacume leak, spray your manifold with wd, or gas while its running, it may be that your brake booster is toast, pull the line off of it and plug it, i guarantee there is a vacuum leak somewhere. weather it be a cracked manifold or a torn hose, the little vacuum tree is cracked or missing plugs there is no problem with the pistons, valves, crank, rods or cam... the the problem has be a vac leak. swapping the carb gasket won't tell you if you have a vac leak. have you put a vacuum gauge on it?

Hey i have a holley Cote 9510-0 2 barrel carb. I picked it up at a swap meet for 20 bucks thinking it was a 4412. Wondering if it is any good and if there are any rebuild kits still available for them. Planning to run it on a hot built 318.

I have a holley 2bbl off of a 73 400. Number on the front is R-7686 A with the numbers 3478 under the first number. I have used this carb on my 360 through four cars, won two derbys with it, top tened in several others. It is due for a rebuild/cleaning. I googled the numbers to try and find a carb kit with no luck thus far. But, I have found a lot of bad reviews on this carb body style. Have I just been lucky with mine, or is there multiple versions of this carb with some junk and others not?

Had a few questions on stock 318 2 BBL carb off of an 89 fifth ave. Ran derby Friday night and started off the derby running great with good throttle response and power. After few decent hits the motor starting running really rich and shoot black smoke and would constantly want to die. Wondering if I need to adjust something in the carb prior to running next time? The choke plate was removed and all the vacuum ports plugged as far as I know. I will be check it out and update as soon as I can. If you could provide a bit more info that would be greatly appreciated. Looking at running the car again this weekend if I can get this issue fixed.

Didn't see anything in the post about the Holley double pumpers, a guy I work with has one he said I could have for $100 he thinks it's a 4175. What do you guys think of them?

Way too much carb in my opinion. My 360 has a built rochester 2gc and it has plenty of power and doesn't stall, what more could you want?

I agree it's a lot of carb, however the price is right, and i will be running it on a 400 Chrysler, and a 460 Ford.
