it can happen. Rebuild it with a heavy duty bolt-in sprag clutch

I bought a small block 727 with a 1500 stall, and it turns out it needs rebuilt. Is it a good idea to rebuilt and use it in derbyin' or should I send it down the road?

I've got an old style 727 out of a push button imp, wondering if there is a kit to change to lever instead of cable. I'm sure a good machinist could do it easily, me not so much. The trannies mint is why I'm bothering. Thanks Clint

How would I go about building a 3 gear 727 that will hold up in a 8644 lb out law car ? Is their a book that shows me how to do away with un needed gears ?

I've towed for many thousands of miles with a tired factory issue 727, add it up and you're talking about 12,000 lbs or so. If you feel the standard rebuild won't cut it then there are all kinds of upgrades you can do to the internals. For improved control of gear selection you could go with a full manual valve body. If you want to consult with a real expert about building a badass 727, make a phone call to John Cope of Cope Racing Transmissions (CRT)

Does anybody know if there is a way to make a 727 shift to second gear by hydraulic pressure when you have your shifter pulled down into first gear. From my understanding and what I've been told the turbo 400 does this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is there a seal or something under the "gear slector shaft" that will leak over time? I have this 727 thats leaking pretty good right under that piece. Worth replacing or just keep toping up?
