well it depends on where youd rather repair the frame or if you want to at all. If i remember correctly my bumper shocks went to my front mount on the k-frame and still bent at the firewall. and as for the althread i would just weld it to the opposite side that you choose to mount your bumper shocks.

I'm just trying to have a back up car (derby friday night) then derby saturday night in case I really hurt my other car the first night. It would be a slap together for one show since its pretty much already built. I didnt just wanna throw a bumper on there and nose it out in between the K frame. I would rather it bend at the firewall. I'm gonna see how far back a set of monte shocks go and keep trying till I find a set up I like. Lol

For your trunk, I would pull it down and try to roll it...then maybe v it all right in the middle. Everything you can do to take the leverage off the back end to stop it from bellying under the doors. Once they go in front of the tires, may as well scrap it.

The more we looked at it the more that option looked like the way to go. It hasn't bellied under the doors yet any, but I know it will. I just wasnt sure if by rolling it and making it "harder" in the back it would speed up the bellying process as opposed to leaving it soft and floppy.

Wondering how I should mount my front bumper on my 71 Coronet. I have a Newport flat for it, but no bumper shocks. Rules allow hard nosing, or I can use any stock FRONT shocks. I havent located any long Chrysler shocks yet, but have access to the ford I beam style brackets. Assuming I dont get my hands on some chrysler shocks, what should I go with? Stock class car, no added metal to mount. Shocks/brackets can be welded to the frame.

Was just wondering what else (bumper bracket/shock wise) to look for that would allow me to do that. As far as leverage goes, should I hardnose the bumper with the brackets, or extend the bumper out a bit off the core support. First Chrysler, no clue what i'm doing. Lol

I would use the ford brackets along the outside of the frame and tie in the k to the rails with them. its gonna bend at the firewall either way you do it. ford brackets work very well if you can burn the rubber out and extend them back as far as they will go if you cant weld them all the way back bolt what you cant weld to hold the back of the shocks in place

^^^ Took that 71 Dodge Coronet to a bone stock show over the weekend to finish it off and have some fun. Got hung on a caddy and timed out somewhere around 4/5th place. Had a blast, in the skinny pedal the whole time. I broke a bumper shock in half on the passenger side and ripped the whole frame section off in front of the K member on the drivers side but she never quit. Drove it off the track and onto the trailer. Learned a lot with this build.

1966 Valiant will be ran Aug. 30th. A little crustier than I thought but will be ran against compacts.

Ran the valiant last night. Kept loading up real bad and stalling. Basically got tired of of getting beat on by Wbodies and having to restart it and broke it off. Seems to be a tough car though, besides the humps starting to blow and a little bit of front suspension issues its mostly cosmetic.
