I'm confused about that, it's been quite a few years since I built a boxcar though. My memory could be suspect but I remember them being the same. One way to settle it, try counting the splines! Post it here in this thread for the record.

Are you guys squeezing your door skins together then welding the two together, or do you guys pound them flat then weld them up. Thanks for the help

How about a pic or suggestion on whos craddel to use in these. I HATE the boxer engine mounts and since I scored a 3rd member with 4.88 gears, I figured I'd try throwing my SBC in one for the extra room. Or, if the cradle will work, I can use the trusty 383. You can mount you sbc 2 different ways. The first way, weld a 6" long piece of angle iron off of the stock motor mount brackets. The set you m/t in, pretty fast and easy way IMO. Second way, just cut off all the boxcar motor mount crap off the cradle. Then weld in heavy flat plate coming off the back of the cradle. Set your m/t in & your ready. Motor will sit pretty low with this option. Both work very well. We've done 8 swaps using the angle iron method and never had a problem. Good luck, nick

Thanks Nick. Do you have pictures you could send me? That is the way that pink one in Sandpoint was set up wasn't it?

Yea I'm sure I've gotta have some pictures of the set up. The pink 64 had the angle iron welded to the stock imperial bracket.
I'll dig up a picture or two.

Whats the thought on rear tire clearance on a 65 imp. I've seen the fenders cut for more clearance and i've also seen it where they left it stock? Any preference on it? Thanks

Another question for you dm440c, Would you run the stock steering column or replace it with an aftermarket one? The car will be used only for a limited weld show. Very limited from what i seen this year. Thanks

for me- not factory stock, not for any Mopar. I mostly run modified factory ones at minimum with a U joint at the steering box and loosely chained at the dash bar to allow movement. If you look through the Mopar steering tips thread you will see a pic of my basic setup. A full custom column works of course but I prefer the low buck version. It works for me.

Ok thanks i will look into that change. Do you guys use power steering or armstrong steering on the imps? I will be running a SBC in it and i have chevy power steering pump and wondered how to hook it up to the factory chrysler power steering box? It looks like it only has one high pressure side and just a hose clamped over the other side, never been around the chryslers much only chevys and wondered how to make it work, or i will just not have power steering.

I'm wanting to replace that rubber donut that connects the steering column to the steering box with a u-joint. Can someone tell me what size shaft & how many splines there are on the power steering box on a 1965 Imperial?

How does a 62 imperial compare to the 64-66 or 67-73 imps?

Does anyone know what other fenders/rad support will work on a 64-66 imp with little work?

I've seen a late 70's chevy pickup front clip bolted on a 66, it actually didn't look as bad as you would think it should, especially after 1 heat they all look the same.

Ok thanks. Do you know how many modifications were needed to make it work?
