72 AND EARLIER, NOT GREAT BUT BUILDABLE- 73-74, HAS THE SPLIT FRAME RAIL BEHIND THE CRADLE AND CAN OFTEN BE USED A "MINI SUB"- 75-76 HAS NO SPLIT RAIL, BUT DOES HAVE FROM HUMP REINFORCEMENT PLATE BETWEEN FIREWALL AND A-ARMS.... SO REALISTICALLY, THE 73 AND 74 ARE THE ONLY SIMILAR STYLE... First time I have seen anyone put any thing about the frame reinforcement on the 75-76 on here. I probably missed it, even though I read both those old threads 3 times each. I noticed it myself few months ago. I like the 75 and 6 because they have a stinger dog house there frames all bend at same spots anyway.

There's more diferences I found out this year having to fix a rusty frame. There's a lot more to the 73-74s. Different shapes to the frame, more metal, and less holes. But they both share those 2 big holes in front of the eng crossmember, which screwed me this weekend

i didn't have any problems with the holes in front of the eng crossmember mine collapsed right in front of where the reinforcements for the front humps are looked like it accordioned right back on my 75. Do the 73s n 4s do this?

Do the 73s n 4s do this? Yes, either there or right behind the control arms where they start to go downhill.

Its much easier to control and repair if they go up in front of the control arm. if they go behind it the frame tend to suck in HARD before it pulls down. There is a fix for it but without liberal rules or incompetent tech people it will be found.

How did you keep the humps from kinking on the 74 in the last pic?
