Has anyone ever seen a the 400 with HD stamped on the bellhousing. I just bought one. For $50 And it seems to have a lower first gear than my old one. It came out of a motor home with a big bloc had the emergency brake on the back of it

I have had a Th400 with the HD stamped on it. I was told it was out of a short bus and I put it in a 3/4 ton Chevy. Mine also had the lower first gear and messed up my linkage.

Just wondering? Do buick, cadillac, oldsmobile all run the same transmissions? Or do they run different types of transmissions?

Quick question for those who know th350's. My buddy has had a leak, I contributed it to being a leaky cooler line. Turns out just above/ahead of the lines headed towards the engine thee is a small hole. It has an odd spring/wire poking out of it. There is a bolt below it and seems to me like there should be a plate to cover the wire and the bolt below it should hold it down. Not sure what it is though, can I cover a bolt in jb weld and shove down in there to stop the leak? Or do we need to find a plate?

I usually leave the cable on it and zippie tie it inside the car somewhere.

It came out of a motor home with a big bloc had the emergency brake on the back of it 400s have the same first gear ratio in all unless someone has changed it to an aftermarket setup. They do however have one extra friction and steel in the drums. It also probably has a straight cut planet set in it.

I guess jb weld up a bolt in it will work?

when just looping the trans lines, do you need to use the expensive high pressure hose, or can you just use fuel line? fuel line blows up you can buy hose for transmission pressure it's not that expensive. Just make sure to clamp it well. Buy a 5/16 steel brake line 12in long and wrap it really tight in some wire so it doesn't kink and bend it to where you need it. It threads into where the lines came out of and there is no clamps to let loose.
