I was able to find everything that I needed to go full spool, 35 spline bolt in 10 bolt axles at Quick Performance. They were super easy to work with and for what I thought, the price was fair. Only question I have (and the answer may be here somewhere that I over looked) what kind of gear backlash am I looking for? .005" or .100" I have no idea.

The manufacturer of your ring and pinion should have a spec listed. I set them up around 7-8 thousandths

When converting a c clip 10 bolt to the bia 31 spline could I just cut the ends off the bop 12 bolt to replace the ends on the 10 or would I run into problems keeping everything strait/true?? I know there's eliminators I can buy,,but if I don't need to I'd rather not Just bolt your axles into the housing ends and slide it all in the spool/carrier and let the spool/carrier keep it all straight for you.

I have a question an it may be a dumb one but I've been wondering for awhile. Why do most of the Buicks theses guys are selling are selling with no rear ends? I know there not all bia. So why would you even want to keep them? Am I missing something? Can you convert the c clips to bia? Are there something special about the axels? Just been seeing this for years and was wondering. Seems like it's almost always just Buicks I have gotten most of my BIA rears out of Buicks. They all aren't but that's been where I got mine. I also have made a for c clip 31 spline 10 bolts so it could be just for the spiders and axles.

I have a 92 roadmaster with a shelled rearend. What would a direct bolt in upgrade be. Running in a mostly stock class with no braced rearends.

I would check and see if the rear end in it is a 30 spline axle rear end. It will still be c-clip but the 30 spline axles are not as fragile as the 28 spline axles, whether they are c-clip or bolt in.

If you press too far your axle will not turn in the bronze bushing.

Sorry i think your mistaken .. The bushing drops over the axle then you press the retainer only up against the bushing
Install in his order
Axel retainer plates first
Bushing second
Then retainer rings get pressed on.. Some guys use two retainer rings or put a tack weld on it.. I always use a new ring .. My brother pressed his old ones off and reused them .. I wouldnt do that though.
