On one of the 4x4 shows they flipped a 14 bolt up side down and cut a oil groove in it so dependinding on the rear and skill it could be possible to flip one over

55-64 GMs had these....they were typically stamped with "GM" on them. Not all that rare or desirable unless it has a "P" stamped on it. The "P" housing would be a factory limited slip/posi housing....those are the ones worth the money....to the right people. Chevy IIs also had a drop out style....can't remember the years though.....sell it on Ebay or CL would be my opinion....not good for derby stuff. Neither should be a "big" bolt pattern....should be 4 x 4-3/4 pattern
Hope this helps

I know there was a lot of good info on the old forum but it was lost You can get side gears from a 31 spline c-clip and install them into a 10 bolt carrier and weld them. you must also drill the carrier a little to allow the 31 spline alxles through. Pretty simple.

My dad ran a 65 caddy with gears somewhere around 3.40. It held up well through a couple derbies for him. I'm wanting to put it in my 75 caddy but I heard the older ones may be too weak for derbies?

I was told that 12 bolt bia side gears were a direct swap in for the 10 bolt bia side gears, and would make an easy conversion set up. Is this true, would like to know before i got tearing into two separate rear ends and end up with nothing i can run lol.
