Can you hammer the humps inward? Can you chain the humps either to the rearend or to the other hump? I might suggest making larger than normal notches, especially the one nearest the hump if you can't do any of the above.
I ran mine stock, like I said years ago when I was a youngster, against pro mod cars. My heat had two imperials and 3 roundback wagons a couple old iron sedans and one 80's model ford and I made the feature out of that and had zero car left. Had to get loaded on the trailer with a fork lift.

Not sure if I can chain them to each other or not. Can chain them to the rear, and can beat the sides of them in.
Didn't even think about hammering the sides of the humps.....did that to the Impala & they didn't budge.

I ran a 68 catalina while i was still learning about building, i wish i would've put on a good bumper and treated the rest like a 71-76 gm. might of had a better shot. They are definitely buildable.

hey, just ran a 1968 pontiac catalina today. The car was pretty good, back end rolled up nicely but the core support got dominated. just ripped apart. The core support was bolted solid to the frame and welded every where. This car was not a stock build. I would not hesitate to run one of these cars again.

Found a four door olds 88 dynamic. Not sure the year, not much rust at all. Could pick it up pretty cheap. I was just wondering if these cars are even worth running. All I normally run is Chryslers just looked like a pretty solid car & have never seen any run before. Thanks for any info.

I know it's in the mid 60's if that helps any at all. Is it full frame? Didn't crawl under it from the snow.

On pages 4 and 5, I posted descriptions, youtube videos, before & after pics, and a photobucket album. Check them out.....same body of car......not much difference 65-70. They are just the first and last year of that body line. I pretty well maximized the rules I had, and built the car just to make a point on here. I only gave $50 for it. It was already about 95% stripped, and I found a small time show with a rather limited build to run it at.

The frame is basically c-channel the bumpers are no good. It's junk derby wise

You would have to be able to add a lot of iron from the a-arms forward. Thin c-channel is all that is there.
