It's an HD 400 I believe. Came in bigger trucks. From what Ive been told not only are certain parts internally better supposedly the cases are thicker too. But I don't know anything for certain. Just what Ive been told. Hopefully rhull1977 will enlighten us.

Would it be similar to a bop 400 then? Also how could you check because we have punisher that is a little different, and has an 8 bolt pump where our other punisher has a 6 bolt.

Most th400s are helical cut gears. The th475 is straight cut. Some 70s caddys and jeeps and HD case th400s have the straight cut gears but all the 475s have them. They do seem to be a little heavier case. If you have a "400" with an e brake on it, it's a 475. They also have an extra clutch and steel. That's the limit of my knowledge about them. I'm sure there are some BOP cases that have the same stuff, most likely early ones. There is also 400s in V12 jags. There is some early 400s around 65 that has a bell housing that looks like a mopar bell but is out of buicks that are heavy duty.

Take the old one out and put the 10 bolt in. 4 trailing arm bolts. 2 shock bolts. Out then in

Ya you don’t have to change anything besides the rearend itself, if you want pinion angle you can use the metric uppers with vic lowers and it’ll give a good angle.

I do believe you are in the wrong section sir. But it's the same as every other metric, it's in here. we-crash.proboards.com/thread/14173?page=73

Can someone give me some tips on how to tilt a 77 caddy. Can only cold bend no cutting and rewelding. What's the best/easiest way of doing so and where is the best spot to do it on the frame. Thanks.

Does it matter if motor and transmission are in while I do it. Or should I do it with M/t out of car?
