Should be fine. That bumper isn't overly hard. Nine times out of ten with the point of it you will end up driving with the corners more then the middle. I don't like them style bumpers bc if you don't hit square I've skid pass the hit I was going for. So now I run the Monte rear bumper over any front bumper.

76 Monte fronts are my favorite all around bumper as well as 75 and 76 gran fury fronts. Corners are soft and centers are just hard enough with the point to not worry. One and done bumpers but they are forgiving on 77+ caddys and y framer and shockers in "stock" form

77 an newer caddy already have body bolt at top of hump to hold body from leaving frame. An needs one just beside driver an pass seat. They go through as they belly. Use plates on front archs but turn them to diamond shape after you cut them an plug/slot weld centers. Do you have pictures of what your saying about the plates Here is pretty much how you do it, this is a metric we built last year.

Thanks for posting pic derbyking88s I only got afters of other models the 80s caddy will run this year. Only difference I'd do is weld trunk seam if it ain't legal then weld inside. Weld all the webbing in trunk lid an I would of left more quater so I could weld it to floor before you put trunk lid on.

Ok question building a 79 deville and was wondering if anyone has done the trunk like they do on old iron where they fold the rear quaters in then weld the trunk lid over it and to the floor and have like 2-3 ft of frame and floor out back.
Thinking of doing this but dont wanna shoit myself in the foot or make it too hard in the rear causing it to drop.
No hump plates

Derbykings88s how did it do? Thinking maybe if i cut some of the bracing out and prebend it that will help?

You don’t necessarily need to cut bracing out, I wouldn’t, just cut the quarters at the body line basically, fold the quarters over, bring trunklid down over top, bolt, wire or weld together, if you can add a body mount, add from frame through the lip of the trunk lid that’s sitting on the floor, up through the trunk lid. This ties everything together and encourages it to bend right before the lid. DIMPLE don’t notch the frame right in front of the trunk lid, pre bend if you can. If you look at the pic we botched too close the to bumper, double notched like you would other cars which wasn’t the thing to do, also change rear bumper.

I cant add a body bolt but i can change all of them out to 5/8s allthread. And i can run my side bars of my cage all the way to the humps with a cross bar. Can weld the trunk 6 on 6 off and 3 spots of 9 wire from trunk lid to rear bumper.
Gonna change the rear bumper to a 90 fomoco rear.

Those are good rules and good things to do to these cars, i’d Weld the trunk seems as much as you can, and more towards the middle of the trunk lid bolt the quarters to the lid

I didn’t mean the internal seams/bracing, I meant like weld the lid to the quarters
