Yes from eastern ks hahaha.....it’s a clean car and don’t want to waste it. I think I’ll close em up. Kinda what I was leaning towards anyway. Thank you

I wouldn't run one if you can't close the Ys. I'd also bet you if you can't close the Ys you also can't put a trans crossmember in it which is a big part of the strength of a 74 and older caddy.

Building a 72 caddy. Got permission to close the ys and run Mopar shocks on the front pressed into the spring pocket. Only thing I'm curious on is what people have done with the core support for radiator. Plan on notching where the c channel ends and dimple at the base of humps also? No hump plates but can dimple humps. Thanks for any ideas/help.

I hacked up and put in a core support from a Metric in mine. I couldnt figure out how to make the stock caddy one work for me.

Dimple wise ur plan sounds fine, I’d put the dimple on the inner corner so when it goes up it also goes in a bit

X2 on running shock on top of the frame, makes mounting the bumper a little bit higher easier.

Yeah thats what I meant. Lay on top of rail wedged in between the bumper and the a arm/pocket. Only allowed to weld 6" with no bolt in the shock. Gotta love Mopar shocks haha

Got a 71/2 caddy in with the rear trunk delete option, basically from the rear package tray back there’s no flooring, the package tray itself is fine, the trunk lid is spotless, and the pillars are rotted in a few spots all the way through, but can be patched in my opinion, after patching the pillars would the lack of trunk actually help this car? Fronts cherry and the frame itself is fine just worried about the trunk being to weak to put any time in to the car.

Get a trunk lid big enough to fold around and weld in place of the trunk pan.

Ive ran them with a trunk delete, if you can prebend the frame rails up, Id run it in a smaller show no problem. If you cant prebend, its real difficult to get it to come up without doing something goofy.

That’s what I was kind of figuring smaller show more of a throw away drive it like a caddy nose out and pray, all the shows that I’d bring it to I can pre bend it. Just won’t be throwing a pointy on this rust bucket

Closed the y's on the 71. Easy only took a couple minutes. Notice tho you seem to have an alittle bit more frame height then the 73^. A arm fwd looks alittle straighter
