So I said I'm done with these cars after running a 74 monte its was built good to my areas standard and it was toast after first heat but I found a 74 Malibu 2door can these be tuff if built the same my rules allows cradles,dp,a-arms forward welding shocks that came with car or bumper and plate one side a-arm forward im not new to derbying just thought the monte was a waste of time and don't want it to happen again and don't run Gms that much also the backend is only there to get hit by others as I only drive forward

A 1974 Monte Carlo I ran in 2014. It was a stock build with the frame welded A-arms forward. I took a full weld Caddy in the noise while I was in the berm but I was able to still drive the car off the trailer to strip it out. Fresh After 1st derby After 2nd derby and on the way to the 3rd derby After taking a full weld caddy in the noise

It would of still bent like it did no matter how the bumper was welded on.

Mine bent behind the full frame at the c channel and at the firewall. Full tracked a early metric caddy nose to nose.

It would of still bent like it did no matter how the bumper was welded on. Wouldn't have bent like that if it was cut off and hard nosed. Shorter they are, harder they are to bend.

Stromi we have went over this. Once we start talking smart everything goes down hill. LOL Alot of the topics can be super easily introduced just with household items. Shortening a car- remember breaking a stick? Whats harder to break a stick 12 inches long or 6 inches long? Alright im done blabbering. Back to midsize gms.

It is true hard nosing the bumpers help them out but the car was build to a show that allows A-arm forward welding and I took it to a show that allows every frame seam to be rewelded from bumper to bumper with every protector you want and unlimited plates what is why that show is big with 71-6 caddys. When your nosed out stuck in the dirt berm and you take a hit on just one frame rail the force has to go somewhere and at the S where the frame has the holes on the outside is going to fold in on itself then the next weakest spot the body mount under the door that does not have a bolt from the factory and it is C channel. I knew going into the last heat it ran the car was going to get destroyed beyond repair and I just wanted to kill the car off

I had the same style build in a 77 monte, way underbuilt for they shows the car was brought to. Seam welded too sode only, just nosed bumper to frame but didnt cut anything down. Didn't really start moving till the last two shows it ran out of the 6 it was in... wish I never would have sold that car. I didn't do anything illegal to the rules but defiantly wasn't about to make the front a weak point
