If fuel pump has 2 lines then no return line. Only inlet and outlet. If it has three then U have return.

I have a 73 impala 2 barrel 350. Was running good went to fire it up today to pull another car in. Won't start and car backfired shooting gas thru the gasket between carb an intake any ideas? Stuck float maybe?

How long has it set without running before you tried to start and move it.

3 days. I put my tires upfront and took the donuts off it raised front 5 inches. Could it have messed with the float? that's the only thing I changed since then.

I have a question on a Rochester 2G it is off a 400 pontiac that had been sitting for a long time I pulled it apart cleaned it up and put a kit in it and new fuel filter. I put it on a stock Chevy 305 in an 84 pontiac using a 4 to 2 barrel adapter. It started right up as soon as it got gas and I adjusted the idle and it runs great at idle but if you step on it hard it dies out. I checked the accelerator pump and I am getting 2 good streams of gas. Checked for vacum leaks and nothing. Anyone have some other ideas I don't have much experience with these. Still have the block mounted pump on it will be switching to an electric pump later. Any ideas from people with experience would be great.

Brought home a 64 oldsmobile f85 to restore pulled the rochester 2gc off to rebuild. Made sure fuel circuits were clean and installed new checkballs. Put new cup on plunger assembly that came in the kit for the accelerator pump...was slightly hard to get in pump well and will not push fuel at all. Do i have the wrong size pump cup or can someone point me in the right direction as to what may be the problem? The previous owner attempted to rebuild it and apparently gave up and reassembled it.

Som92 did you get the cup on the right direction If it is the kit for that carb it shouldnt be the wrong size pump cup It is installed in the correct direction but acts like its too tight it tries to squeeze out the slot in the side of the pump well. I think the kit i got is incorrect had some gaskets that didnt match like they were for a slightly bigger 2g?
