I run doubled dot tires on the front, works fine. But when I was running them on the rear, the traction is bad enough that it will affect how well you do. Skidsteer tires are much better.

Maybe as throwaway tires on the front, I wouldn’t want them on rear.

I don’t know about burnt out on derby I feel as it is other things have taken priority over it, and it’s not fun to go from moderately successful to not. I had to scale back to one a year when we purchased a house with out buildings that needed a ton of work, and then when my son was born, it got really hard to be in the garage when he is growing up in the house. I still build one a year, because if I quit, I know I won’t restart. Too expensive to buy back in when you are only interested in full size rwd.

I have used them as transmission coolers. The draw back is the room they take up, and finding one that you could slip a trans line over. They worked pretty well overall.

I have used AC condensors with electric fan in the past. It worked well but it was annoying to mount. I never cared for the icebox idea so never tried it. Too many stories of water ingestion into trans, and the water in ice box heated up quickly when I tried it.

My thought on full centers on the front are a good way to test suspension durability (or lack of). I still run full center 5.50s but the taller (old school at this point) tires, I would worry about having full centers.

Mechanic for an electrical utility company. I wanted to be a teacher growing up. I went to a community college to learn auto mechanics so I could work my way through my bachelors, but once I got into the utility company, kind of lost interest in teaching. The apple doesn't seem to have fallen far from the tree though because my dad started out as a mechanic for a utility company, and my grandpa retired from a utility company as a mechanic.

I don't think they do get shared anymore, at least not in a way you can easily find again unless you saw the post when it happened. I know a lot of information travels back and forth on Snapchat though, just need tons of derby "friends" on the app.

I bought one in 2016ish, I thought the gaskets and parts were pretty low grade stuff, but it has all worked fine since then. The following engines I bought nicer name brand gaskets and bearings though.

Bomber Transmissions built mine, I haven't had an issue with any of the three I run, and the oldest had 9-10 runs before I snapped the case in half.

Is the lip on the yoke that the slider fits onto before bolting required for running a slider or any driveshaft I guess, or has anyone noticed any issues with it not being there? I picked up a rear axle originally built by a vendor with a pinion brake. The build either predates the longer rear end yoke to accommodate pinion brake rotors or the yoke was not correct for the application and the lip on the rear end yoke doesn't extend all the way through the rotor.

52 minutes. Area I work in has a lower cost of living compared to where I live but my family and my wife's family all live in the area we live so neither of us care to move.

Events like this are why I have only bought welders from a major manufacturer ie: Lincoln, Miller. I am sure cheaper brands weld similarly in the hands of a qualified welder (not me) but last thing I want to do is have it break and the parts aren't available or if they are, only through one source that is backordered.
