Ok, this happened an hour ago. Neighbor was going to leave, truck started making a grinding noise, won't move forward. Pushed it into my drive. It moves in reverse just fine. I consider myself a novice wrench, at best, but was looking for a lil tip on where to begin looking this weekend. It almost sounded like when you break/separate a CV in a fwd. However it moves fine in reverse. It's an 07 Yukon, 6.2, awd. He's in no hurry and I can't do much till the weekend.

Reverse but not Forward, Internal trans failure. Not a transfeercase issue. Prob what is referred to as the sun shell broke. Basically F#@ked up and needs to come out and apart.

That's what the Google machine also led me to believe. Thanks for the input.
