move your chains over your humps, that pipe is actually very weak, usually snaps right beside frame rail even without the chains there Do you suggest cutting holes in the wheel house/package tray areas to run the chain "over the humps"? Not sure if I'll get a chance or the time to move them before the derby, I'm awfully pressed for time. The track is usually very muddy and not super hard hitting, it's a pretty stock show. I feel like the car should do good as-is, but always up for trying to make it better if time allows... Yes, that's how we do all the suicides and tbirds. Suck the chain tight to the hump right at the base of the hump then around the axle tubes.

I didn't get the car finished for the derby I was shooting for (it was a rainy mess anyway). Good news is I've got almost a month to get the car finished exactly how I want before I make some junk!

A couple pics from this past weekend. Finally got all wiring and plumbing done. Was able to fire it up, the 5.3 runs good. Some new plugs, a radiator hose, and top off the fluids and I believe the drivetrain will be good to go. Just a few small things left on my list, hoping to about have it wrapped up by this coming Sunday.

Not trying to be critical but why is your cross member like that?

X2 I never built one, I have to assume no trans brace and trying to leave wiggle room?

I do my crossmembers on the tbirds the same way. Its normally pressured into the bottom of the floor. If you look under a sui or Bird it will make sense on why it's done like that, there's "fingers" that come from the torque boxes and ties into the floor.

I used 2.5x2.5 1/4 wall tubing for the crossmember welded to the rockers well. It's not tight against the bracing/fingers under the body because it couldn't be, but it'll definitely help with bellying in the front, as well as give the trans some wiggle room..

Then if it was mine it would have rusty rockers an I'd have to lay thick pipe in to give it the round edge back an some plate so it looks factory. Then tie in springs to that rust repair an make cage gussets go to there an weld in cross member like you all got. The ready mix in fire wall webbing unless it's a show they make you cut quater hole in it so they can scope an you go to town...... an this is why I don't buy a suicide bc I'd bc way overboard on building. It's to easy to get creative with them then it just moves the to new spot an repair plate will fix it.

The shows I run are pretty thoroughly inspected with scopes and such. I've been quite "creative" on this car, it hasn't just merely been slapped together. Every single thing I've done on it has a reason and purpose... thanks

I’m gonna be building a 64 this winter n curious if I could do the same for my rules
