Thanks beefybuilt104. That makes sense to me. I guess if I have to make my lowers longer or shorter I should just make my own mounting hole in the frame? Like I said I’m new to all this and I’m just trying to get it done right. Don’t wanna mess up to severely on my first try.

If you have to make your lowers longer just get a new piece of square tubing and re drill it. If you need to shorten them up then cut off the lower that you have now and try it. If you keep changing the mounting hole on the frame either your gonna be tacking the mounts on a and off to try to find where you want them and then you need to worry about it being the same on the left frame rail and right frame rail. Just keep using the hole that you have the lowers mounted to now (flip the mount like I said) then just make new lowers from square tubing.

Gotcha. Thanks that really helps me out a lot. I’m gonna get it all fixed up tonight and hopefully things work out. I wasn’t entirely sure how the C channel part was to be in there, just seen some pictures of how other people did it and it looked like they had it the way I do but the way you have yours makes more sense. Thanks again for the info, I greatly appreciate it!

Also would having weight on the wheels help with setting the angle? A couple people I’ve talked to said it wouldn’t help it, but in my head it would make sense to have everything bolted on loosely and then have weight on it and tighten it all up.

Like I said I had the ride height set and body on before I set angle. If it makes that much of a difference or not I'm not one to say. Not an expert on this. Lol this is only the first one that I set up.

Another thing to keep in mind when setting pinion angle is what kinda show is it. Are you allowed a gtp? If not allowed one When the car starts to belly the pinion will start to point down so we usually set the pinion angle a little high to keep it out of the dirt. More worried about cars bellying in stock shows.

If I do it will just be directly around the tank it’s self. Can’t run kickers anywhere tho. Setting the angle is my biggest concern now. I don’t want it in the dirt after a few good hits.

If it was me. I would mount your tank however you usually do and then build a gas tank protector. If they don't like it, you can argue that it's not in the rules or they make you cut it out or unbolt it. But if they let it pass and other people don't make them because the rules are unclear now you have an advantage over everybody. That's just me. When I made mine, granted I am allowed them, I went about an inch away from the sheet metal there and it extends from wheel well to wheel well with about 1/4" gap on each side.

Very good point. Maybe I’ll build one and put it in. I’ll see if I have the time to do it. The show I’m going to run is coming up pretty soon. Have to make some time to do it I guess.

How about a copy of your rules? Nobody can give an accurate answer without knowing all the variables. Period. I buuld every car different based on the rules even if its the same type of car.

Judging by the pics it’s either inspectors don’t know what they’re looking at or 5 foot rule show. Either way run a bead for seams on the humps and fill in and clean up the rest. At least make it look presentable unless of course your rules allow plateing.

It’s a mod class, only thing they don’t allow is full engine cradles and kickers, and they are kind of picky about cages. Everything else is pretty much a free for all.

Gotcha, if that’s the case I’d have just straight stacked it and been done. A lot easier and helps a lot when you factor in plate.
