That's not a bad idea...there are very little places to run old iron around here, and I see quite a few sitting waiting to be built around the county(it also seems like there is a suicide in everyone's backyard...). Maybe a mod open class? Not that the payouts are terrible, but if you could convince the fairboard to put a little more money toward the payouts(not like the derby isn't the biggest draw), I could see an open class filling up the track.
Let's be real, 1000-1500 or so just isn't enough for all the work and price of tires, cars, etc.
-I voted for mild weld if you are running strictly 80+. IF open class were ever to happen, mod or something in between(maybe something similar to wicked or smashit rules to get some travelers).

the smash it rules from last year favor a 80+ build so i would say keep those rules and open it up to old style cars to see if you can pull some more drivers. An old style built to these rules would not be any harder than a vic imo and the old stigma of people being afraid to run against the old cars is long gone. I would suggest trying that this year see what happens if turnout doesn't improve then go to the milder build. If these guys are right and there are a bunch of old styles laying around waiting to have a place to run you might be on to something.

i dont see anyway to have both classes. county fairs are a dying breed and are only going to get so many cars. So dividing them up in multiple half full classes helps no one. I will try to run either way but i have to have my cars built before march after that i work 80 hrs a week. SO whatever you decide let us know so we can get started on cars. With that said i would still say let the old styles run either way.

If it was me keep the rules the same but open it up too any year I think it would draw a bigger crowd of drivers I run butler county everyyear and it took a long time and a great group of officials to get those rules too lets give it another year for a turnout and if it Dont work go back to the rules in 2014 but in my opinion keep the same rules open class to any year
