Congratulations to the TOP 5 and all the builders & drivers who made this year's State fair a success. John & his crew did a great job keeping things moving and the track size and surface conditions were excellent. Some great action in all classes for sure and proof that both a Promod & Stock class can still bring decent car counts. I have been getting a ton of text messages and questions on what happened to my Imperial and me this evening. Unfortunately the Derby Gremlin's struck me hard early on. When I made my second hit in the Promods, my steering box shattered the internals and I had ZERO steering which is what put me out for the night(I could spin the wheel like a top). In over 2 1/2 decades of derbying on & off I have never broke a steering box, some would say I should feel lucky then, well hard to feel that way tonight. I was really looking forward to being a part of putting on a great show for the fans as well.......you know what they say happens sometimes. Get to building everyone and continue to support your local derbies.

Great show last night! Had a blast! Shows like that make it hard to hang up the helmet. Still have plenty of car left due to a broken distributor cap..

I want to thank all the drivers who came to compete in the 2015 Indiana State Fair Demolition Derby. This was really a great show and some of the hardest hitting I have seen in my derby career! I know there will be some sore bodies in the next coming days... I also hope the driver who took a hard hit and left by ambulance is OK... I feel bad for Bill Evans mini car going up in flames by the slow response of the fire dept. hopefully it did not hurt much... I know the State Fair is happy with the event tonight because they usually do not let us know about it and they did tonight... Great job again guys for keeping the fans on there feet! I want to thank everyone who helps me put these shows together it really means a lot! From the outside these shows may look easy to put on. There are a lot of things behind the scenes that no one knows unless you have done it before. That is why all the help with inspecting, flagging, volunteering, gopher, ect. is so invaluable! Next years show should be even better as we find ways to increase the payouts and awards... Stay tuned its going to be awesome!!!! jdf Yeah that fire pretty much sucked and only topped off the build and venture to even make the event. Safety First!!! I have never been to any fair or derby event where there were ZERO extinguishers sitting around the arena. In fact, usually the fire guys are standing by, ready and a bit too anxious to put out any little header burp. These guys were not fire fighters and no less than a JOKE. I can only be thankful that this was not something more serious for myself or any other driver. Thanks to Ryan for being there so quickly. Drivers help drivers. Sure it was probably entertaining for the crowd at first and made for some good pics but it really looked pathetic. Carb fire was my error but the overall damage is a good $300-400, maybe more due to all the burning but hey they're just ole' junk cars right? My previous State Fair run ended the same way, why change now. As for the show, it was entertaining and that's all the fair cares about. I'll save any other comments and keep them to myself. Leave it on the track. Congrats to all who ran, placed, participated and helped. These builds in all classes are exhausting and not getting any easier so when you have a bad night, week or month well, we all know how each other feels. See ya all later.

One of the only negative thing I have to say about running this show other then the fire department is how expensive it is to run everyone in my truck besides me had to pay 12 for general admission and the another 20 for pit passes and we never left the pits I love running this show I hate that I didnt get to run but if something doesnt change with that soon im not gonna be able to continue to run this show

Why didn't you run?

They hit my wife for 12 also. The gate lady was going to charge me as well but after a bit of discussion she said "I'll let you pass this time". Why cant they get this stuff figured out?

No driver should have been charged. Any pit member that was charged 12.00 was only charged 8.00 when they signed in for a pit pass. This is what we did last year and I am pretty sure when Larry and Joe ran it they did this too... We also heard that some guys with trucks and trailers were charged 5.00 to park but not everyone got charged? We don't like it either and I printed out several list of drivers and emailed these to make sure it did not happpen, but it did! I think part of it is the people that are hired to work the gate(fear of getting fired for letting someone in with out paying). It took me and my crew 15 minutes to get in and they had a list with my name and every crew member on it... But they still had to contact a supervisor! jdf

Has anyone heard from the driver who's seat broke? How's he doing?
I was also curious about a driver that seemed like he was dq'd in the middle of the stock feature - car 77 maybe? From the stands we didn't see anything go wrong, and it didn't look like he ran out of time. Several of us civilians were wondering.
Good show everyone!

These builds in all classes are exhausting and not getting any easier so when you have a bad night, week or month well, we all know how each other feels. See ya all later. No problem, bud. Learned alot from my dad (28yr firefighter/medic) especially to help others. I dont care about the so- called "regulations", they should've been dressed and ready to go, standing behind the rails not sitting in their truck 50 feet away from the track. Then when Buck got hurt, the female medic looked at me when I was helping him and said "how do you suggest we get him out, the doors dont open?" Very unorganized and not professional, especially letting a driver who was complaining of back pain to climb out himself. Overall, I thought it was one of the hardest hitting shows Id seen this year. Got to give out a few things to drivers and talked to friends that I only get to see at the derbies.

The sad part about the fire deal is I told them before the mini cars came out, we may need them for the mini cars because they sometimes roll over...
Thank you Ryan for donating the shirts and tires for the hardest hitters...
Thank you to Torry for another great announcing job!

Good show everyone! 77 Just simply wasn't making quality hits and was eliminated for sandbagging. He was warned earlier in the event.
