Agreed. I just made an account, but since his car needs a body, my wagon needs a new front clip as well as I'm building my real derby car we haven't had time to really set up any thing yet. Hopefully going to run a winter one sometime soon. And thank you timmy76 for the pictures. Think we just found a new way to hold our bodies together

To make more scale appearing bodies, google "jcarwill papercraft template" they are scale paper models of mostly cars used in derbies. Been working on print sizing for the rc chassis I'm going to use

What size rc car do you guys build? Would like to get some friends to start doing this! Any information on how to build, or a site to visit would be greatly appreciated.

Where you guys located in NW Iowa. I am in Winterset, IA just 30 mins south of Des Moines. Have been in contact with Demoo Derby and RC demo derby cars on Facebook (also following above NC Slammers (nice work by the way!)) and we are going to be starting something in the Winterset area hopefully next fall/winter. We will be running 1/10 scale tin bodies are will be the same thickness as a "for sale, no trespassing, etc." signs you can buy at Wal Mart of etc. There are rules on Demoo Derby's facebook page we will closely follow outside of 2WD cars only. Power is unlimited for now but must be electric (no gas powered). Hit me up if this is something you want to closely monitor as Cedar Rapids is not even 2 hours from us.
Also, if you too will be switching to this body of car and running derbies, let me know as I can bring a few cars up eventually.
Like what your doing and putting Iowa on the map!

we use 1/10th scale. and we're located in Doon/Rock Valley area. eventually I think maybe we were leaning towards tin, but if you'd come up, we'd probably just use the tin foil bodies. Way cheaper IMO. plus they're able to be manipulated easier to make it look like a car.

Cutting the top and bottom off pop cans, then making a vertical slit down the length. This lets you unroll the pop can into a flat sheet of metal. A standard kitchen can opener will remove the top and bottom.

cpeet14 -
We starting a RC Demo Derby Club on Facebook called Iowa Mad Dog RC Demo Derby. We are based out of the Winterset/Des Moines area. We are holding our promotional demo derby during / at the Madison County Fair on Sunday - July 19th at 3pm. Hit us up and like our page and PM us so I can get you more details.
Entry fee is $10 and we are hoping to get roughly 30 cars and have a pay out to First Place of THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS!
Cars are made from metal "No Trespassing, Beware of Dog, For Sale" signs you can get at your local hardware store or at some Wal Mart stores in Iowa. They can only be pop-riveted.
If anyone is in the Iowa area and interested, please contact me at "five one five -971 - six two two two" or PM us on Iowa Mad Dog RC Demo Derby (on facebook).
Rules are on our Facebook event page as well.
We will be adding some things to our demo like a gate for us to drive into the arena like the real deal, potentially a PA System and Announcer, live music, potentially entrance music (theme music you drive into the arena with), gifts and prizes for children (Mud Run Fair Event Tickets, Free Carnival Tickets, Free Ice Cream vouchers, and more!)!
This demo derby will also be filmed and the video will be edited and slicked up, then put on our Mad Dog Facebook page as well as You Tube.
Hope some here can make it and again, contact us and we can walk you through what you need and how to build the car bodies!
Thanks,
