Hobart makes good machines I have a few friends that love there 140s don't get anything less I started on a century 125 built many cars with and taught myself to weld I paid 150$ all set up with gas used The key to a good weld is surface prep especially with a 110 welder Make sure both edges are ground down and a beveled.
People don't realize that unless your electrically inclined(some people are pure scared shitless of it) running 220v can be difficult

I personally would go with a Miller 211 or a shark industry 190 both do great jobs

Is there much difference in brands of wire? I see some that are cheaper for the same type and size of wire, just not brand. For instance a roll on eBay vs going to a parts store.
