Small claims works and if he doesn't pay the amount then it goes on his credit report as a judgement against him. Guy I use to work for has this he didn't pay me for 3 months. So I sued him got the judgement 5 months later got my money. Now he called me saying he got denied for a loan because of a judgement on his credit report. He wanted me to call the courthouse and get it off, but I had to wait almost a year so guess he will too

Long story short: Many a year ago I loaned about a $1000 to a girlfriend. We split and she stiffed me. I took her to Small claims court and won. When she didn't pay I went after her car. She paid in full-case closed. Local police and sheriff served the notifications--I han no costs involved.
BLUF: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't--for $1400 I'd go small claims and get the judgement. If he don't pay up, you can give up, wait it out, or keep pushing like I did.

I have had to track down a lot of people for money. I tell my customers, stay in touch and ill do everything necessary to help you get the debt paid in full............. Ignore me, quit picking up the phone thinking i will forget! WRONG. Id rather spend the money, go to court, screw up their credit just to teach people a lesson! (Problem is very few people care about their credit these days)
These people are steeling, taking money out of an honest mans pocket and food out of his family's mouth.
Makes me sick reading these treads!
I know this is a different situation but its the same principle.

Well I called the police department there in Columbia Ky and talked to them! They deal with the guy on a regualar bases.... As far as sending him the the check...they said as long as I have reciepts and transaction paperwork. I have all the paper work I need so im good on that part! They are going to swing by his house today and see what his deal is, They said they are going to try and get him on charges but if not then i would have to go up there myself and file civil suit! A check sent in the mail is the best transaction to be ripped off on. This person that is ripping you off now has committed mail fraud. This is a felony. You can file online with the USPS, and it will be investigated by postal authorities. Penalty for defrauding an individual would be up to five years and $250,000 fine. The webpage to start from is here: ehome.uspis.gov/fcsexternal/default.aspx

You spent $1300.00 on a trans? I was kinda thinking the same thing. Still wrong to screw a guy, especially somebody serving for us over seas

This is all kinda shocking to me! I know it’s been several years but I know mr Karnes and have dealt with him on many occasions. To be completely honest I thought a lot of the guy, he has always went out of his way to help me and my ole lady when we have car trouble and always been fair in all dealings! I hope everything was worked out for both parties involved! a word of the wise... never pay upfront especially when not face to face with the seller! Hope all was resolved, have a good day
