I have a 69 country squire. I was thinking leafs, notch at the brackets, leave the tailgate off and cut the down supports to weaken a little. Hard nose the front with a 79 Lincoln continental rear bumper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey guys I am looking to pick up a 77 ltd wagon and had A few questions and concerns before I did . It is a very solid car, body wise and the frame. It has a 400 in it, are these motors any good? The guy said it has a 4 spd auto transmission he doesn't know what trans it is. Would anybody know what trans and if they are any good? The rear end I'm not sure either, I know it is not a 9 inch. Are these cars even worth derbying? Any help would be appreciated. Thankss

400 only if it's a real stock derby about 15 mins heat in my opinion...trans a c4 or a fmx not sure never had one but it will have a cast iron center section between bell ad the tail.Car is well worth it to demo though.

So is the 400 a good engine or no? Anybody have any luck with the wagons? Didn't see a whole lot about these older wagons in the other threads

People don't necessarily like to run the wagons because they are a hard car to master(70's fords in general...but they are MEAN with a little knowledge/build flexibility), BUT after seeing a few run(and getting to check one up close) they look to be very tough cars. I remember seeing a few on the old site that had wins and looked to be built pretty tough, but i can't give you personal experience on them. I wouldn't hesitate to run one with the right set of rules.

Can you convert it to leafs? That's about the only way to keep the azz from becoming a bulldozer

There buildable without leafs, notch, relieve pressure in the roof and get ride height and they will go up
