If you look at the pics, and visualize it without the X, I think it looks similar to an old Ford frame...

by just looking at the pictures, my first thought would be to cut the bottom of the driveline loop, so you dont have to worry about a carrier bearing and two piece drive line, and leave the top to keep the x connected. Maybe even add a little more to keep it stiff

Maybe even add a little more to keep it stiff I thought about that too... What if you cut the loop completely out, and folded the X over onto each perimeter rail, making a full boxed rail... You would of course have to have rules that allowed frame seam welding... Not sure about the body mounts though...

You could do that or just put a lot of extra body bolts into the existing x. Or bolt trany cooler, battery box, and gas tank box to it.

the car looks interesting with enough time and decent rules maybe the body would be ok with 2 pieces of 9 wire per window to hold it down on the frame

Just watched one of these win a show a few weeks ago. Very cool to watch run. Frame never budged. The body shelved off the rear. Make sure you belted in tight, every time he hit with the nose the back wheels came 2 feet off the ground. Wish I had more details on the build. As far as I could see it was sbm powered with a 4 point cage. Leafs and rear looked stock and had a pointy on the front with stock rear bumper.

It was in Sussex nj. Nationwide productions rules. And I agree that the bodies seem weak And easily torn off the frame but with a good set of rules that would allow some extra work these cars have potential.

BODIES ARE LIKE PAPER, I AGREE THAT THE FRAME "LOOKS" TOUGH, BUT THE FRONT SUSPENSION ALWAYS SEEMS TO BLOW APART AND YES, THE REAR GETS SHOVED OFF THE FRAME BAD...... JUST NOT ENOUGH GOOD POINTS TO JUSTIFY STOCKING UP ON CHECKERS....

Why couldn't you change the front suspension and put a different body on it?

With a torch and welder anything is possible. ? Is whether it's worth it. And before digging into a project like that I would check with the promoter and make sure their are no issues with running one. A few years ago I had a chance to get a bunch of them and got alot of crap from a few promoters that claimed they weren't mass produced and they were a special purpose vehicle.
