That's the pain in the ass I'm finding with these cars. Some of the important pieces are hard to find and only place you can get them is the salvage yard. Well.... how many boat tails you find in your local yard. Only real place I've found parts cars was Texas and that's a long way for a few pieces

I have a fresh '71 complete (supposed to run & drive but haven't tried). It's complete front to back from what I can tell, what pieces are worth the hassle of pulling? I'm pretty good with a BFE, case of beer, & buddies when it comes to stripping cars, so pulling it apart the "right" way would have to be worth it.

I have two questions on these 1 is the bumpers worth keeping and 2 is it possible to cut the front so I can stub a 71 caprice or are the frames to different that it won't work ? This being asked cause I have one but the back has been wiped out and pinched the humps but been hangin on to it for the front end

How do these front ends compare to other gms strength wise? Tougher than most, many just use the front frame on other gms.

You might as well just shoot yourself in the foot before you pull onto the track...

How do these front ends compare to other gms strength wise? the 71-73 car stubs are comparable to something like a caddy, and IMO all they are good for is taking the front stub. the 74-76 on the otherhand is an overall very solid car.

Any after pics? Is the 9 wire going around the frame and/or is the upright cage bars welded to the frame? I want to build mine but not sure if I can get away with all that might be necessary to keep the belly up.

With a proper gas tank protector, these cars shouldn't be any different than the other GMs of this vintage.

I'll post the afters tonight and the video.
The car is built to GSA rules. The 9 wire is going around the frame but the cage has 4 down tubes to the sheet metal. It has a 24" gas tank protector as well.
