I thought this should be on here as well...Caddies have their own thread because they are different than the "normal" GM sedans. Rivvy's are different than them both. Post any tips/tricks here.

Is there anybody out there willing to share some tips to get this thread going?
I have built a 71 Rivvy, but not much about that car is like the 4-6s. The fronts are similar, but thats about it.
Bumper mounting, what do you prefer, Chevy cups or side mount Buick and/or Olds brackets. Thoughts on hardnosing vs. shocks/brackets?
Cage placement, down bars, up and over bar etc?
Where to notch/dimple the rear?
Any pics of these cars would be helpful too.
Thanks.

I'm going to start my build within the next month or so (75 Rivvy) I've got some ideas on how to set it up but will also listen to ideas. From the research I've done there were only about 20,000 Rivvy's sold each year in 1974, 1975, and 1976 which explains why they are so hard to find.

I am running a 76 riviera and was wondering what the best way to set the back end up? I can weld whatever brackets on and also will have 3/4 all thread for solid rear suspension. Also will be putting an impala rear bumper on it. I have the long and heavier olds 98 rear brackets and can put on back or else use impala rears and dimple the frame. which would be better. Are these rears more like electras or lesabres? Thanks for any input.

The rears are short framed, not long like a 225. I would compare the rears more to a midsize GM (monte, cutlass, malibu). Unless you can plate the humps, definantly dimple or notch, which ever you prefer. Even with plating the humps, I personally would still dimple.
I am still in the process of building mine, but I have the trunk built. I shortened the stock rear bracket and dimpled in front of the natural curve of the frame about an inch or so. I have the trunk folded and tucked. I am running it at a stock derby and can only 9 wire the trunk, so take it for what its worth. Will try to take some pics and post some before and afters.

I'm going similar to what dasimzy said but I can weld the trunk lid. I plan on moving the trunk lid towards the front of the car and then tucking it in. I'm going to dimple twice, and shorten the rear brackets to get a shorter tighter roll. I'm also going to beat the hell out of the trunk lid and speaker deck kind of like a newer vic would be setup. Mine won't be done for a couple of months, but will post before and after pics when I get there.

I shortened the back bumper bracket too, dimpled and tucked mine even though it was leafed. It packed in pretty good, until the 3rd run. I got a little crazy, and blew out the passenger side hump. I plated it, and ran it again, and used mostly the front, and skyed it pretty good
