Alright guys the leaf springs held up good!! We just used some Toyota front 4x4 springs the frame we dimpled it once and started to roll nice it was a tank in the back I didn't crease anything or pre bend we used the stock Oldsmobile vista cruiser bumper and its still straight we welded every seem on it!!! The thing that really messed up the car is we couldn't weld the cage to the floor so I got hung up on some k rail in the heat and at the end of the main he was driving a suicide Lincoln so really no battle there he hit me so hard he broke 2 lug nuts and ripped the wheel through the lugs and popped my passenger back tire he hit me a few times against the k rail he pushed my cage through the body messing up the body!!!! The frame bent in front of a arms like I knew they were (no plating on frame and no seem welding) but the frame was straight!!!! Ill try and get pictures up of the frame but my body was shot!!!! But ill run another one all day especially for 50 bucks!!!! And we took 2nd place we put a 305 in it with a 200m tranny and modified a caprice drive shaft it was some work but I was pissed I couldn't move with no wheels!!! Lol oh another thing we ran no front breaks!! I pushed on the pedal so hard to stop I broke the pot metal spacer thing behind the booster!! I had no breaks 3 mins in the main!! Hahaha!!! We might be picking up a 77 Monte Carlo for cheap before u I runthe galaxy and Edsel so thanks for the help guys

I considered it and Riley will give you some tips if you PM him. Hes a super nice guy. Im not sure how it worked for him because the last time I talked to him, he had only ran it once and had some bad luck. I personally dont think its a good idea on a mid size gm unless you are allowed to get creative with some bumper brackets or shocks.

Wreckandrace- I know this is a midsize car, but i wasnt sure how much difference the back would be to the older midsize gm's... where this car will be run, it will be in with a few old iron and 80's up fords and chevys..... i dont expect much from the car, just to have fun

If I were to run it just to bend stuff and have fun, I would build it more following the metric GM thread. Probably wanna double notch and pre bend. I've never build a G body, but I think all the same basic concepts would apply. Here ya go dude, found this under the compact section. Looks like some tips and pics. we-crash.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=compacttips&action=display&thread=14237

^^^Please let a circle tracker have that chassis. All you'll do is waste it. Honestly, a well built Lumina will destroy a G body.

Honestly, a well built Lumina will destroy a G body. x2 I think you wouldnt have much fun in this car, even expecting to waste it. Doesn't take much to junk one with a fullsize..let alone an old iron...i just think you'll be targeted for having a weak car and be out in a few hits.

^^ That would be a wise choice. I was just trying to give you some ideas or tips if you had your heart set on running it. Honestly, a 77+ GM, 80s Dippy, or 80s Ford would dominate that G body, let alone old iron. Find something else and we'll all be glad to help ya out on it.

Would this rule be enough to help in front of the a-arms?
"You may weld a 4” X 12” X ¼” strap from the bumper to the frame to help keep the bumper on the car. This must remain in one piece, and may be welded on the top; bottom or side of the frame but it cannot be angled to the corner of the bumper to form a kicker. 12” is the maximum length."
Thanks
