What do you mean, you can't speed it up?

Like transaxles you can change pulleys to make it faster or by pass the governor to get the mower go a little faster. You might be able to get a little bit more speed out of it but you have to be careful because you get to much you will burn it up sooner or later.

Here is a website that talks about why. The Last post on that topic says why it would be hard to speed up and make it work: www.heymow.com/index.php?topic=3721.0Also heymow.com would be a great website to go to on how to speed the mower up and be safe about it. That website is not about derbying but about racing mowers but there is some useful advice on there.

They are starting a new class at my track... Outlaw mowers. Basically run what brung. Only rule is flat on the front, no bumpers. Would you build your own frame from the ground up if it were you?
How would you do the rear end? A regular mower rear end, or something different?
Any other tips/tricks you would do? Thanks

Me personally I would take a good solid lawn mower frame and build a cage around the engine. I would also if it isn't already extent the front end out farther in front of the tires so you would be hitting with the front and not your wheels. Just a little tip and it will help more than a lot of ppl think build stronger tie rods. I lost steering due to breaking the tie rods one time early in the feature and some how still got third out of the whole deal and that's why I got third and not farther up.

I picked up a Toro mower and when I took the fiberglass rear fenders off I noticed a bar going across the rear pulley and when you push the clutch in it brings this bar down onto the rear pulley so I'm guessing this acts like a clutch plate. my question is can I still change this rear pulley or am I S.O.L?

theres a clutch on the left brake on the right. 5 forward speed 1 reverse and a neutral I wouldn't bother with anything that's not a standard 3-5 speed. you could see if you can take the motor off and use it on a craftsman lt1000, those are my favorites. but other than that I have nothing man

deff is worth building and it is accually fun yull be suprised now its not fun for ppl that have one small peice of steel on for leg guards in a modified derby but deff is fun Tell me about it. I had a small underdone leg guard on my John Deere 112 and got it busted by one hell of a bruiser yesterday. But its like heroine, one first time and your hooked no matter what.

Hey guys I'm new here. I need some info on how to loosen/fix a stuck pulley on a John Deere 112. The pulley in question is the jackshaft from the primary belt to the secondary belt. I had to drop the clutch every 5-7 feet to get it to move again so needless to say it needs to be fixed. May also be interested in changing pulley sizes and the information needed on that. Thanks
