When u strip a mower you take a lot of strength from the dash therefore your steering column is weaker = less strength try welding a piece of flat steel on each side of dash to your cage so you dash is now tight reducing the flimsiness it had before .or pull your steering wheel off and weld a washer on dash where your steer rod goes thru it if everything else is snug .Hope this helps .Steering can sometime be a pain in the ass.

That's what I did when I used to build craftsmans take the wheel off and weld a washer to the dash but before u weld pull the shaft tight against the gears

I also make my own gas pedal .I use a brake lever from 10 speed bike and mount it on my shifter rod and connect the cable to my carb throttle lever and use a clamp in few places to keep it from moving and keeps the outer sleeve tight .It works really good and you get max horsepower from motor when u need it plus you will see a big difference in speed :just make sure you are idled all the way up and the squeeze the brake lever and you will notice a difference .hope this is helpful to all you mower maniacs .
