57-64 solid front axle trucks are the bee`s knees of fords, bend the front portion of the frame inwards as close to the leaf springs as possible to mount bumper of your choice on, get a sbc in there, the stock transmission mount is a good crossmemeber to mount your sbc, slide the engine all the way back you can, weld and or bolt box to cab to ensure a uni-body style strength, take that goofy cover off the steering shaft and use a 3/4 heim joint in to support the shaft, lift the front as high as possible suck the ass rather low and wedge it. cage and rollover bar and youre ready to smash some shat at a rather stock derby!

Sounds good prettie. I have a 57 1/2ton shortbed stepside. Anybody have sugestions as to what would be a good fitting replacement for the stepside? Pretty shure I'll never be able to find a regular bed. Thanks.

Thanks. I figured almost anything could be made to fit. just wondered what would mate to the back of the cab better. Have a buddy with a 67-72 shortbox so that might find its way on there.

Does anyone know of a tougher steering box that will fit a 70's ford f100 truck, beside a stock one? Broke mine this weekend. Sheared the out put shaft clean off.

I have a 78 f150 ranger I was wondering what to do with the bumper and tailgate. Do I loose the bumper n move the tail gate down or just weld it to the bumper it's a pro class truck

Is this in regards to my steering box question? Or just a cool statement? LOL

I'm thinking the 98 fords not for sure on the year era that 98 would fall into look tough up front all boxed c channel further back though, but with a rule set I saw for an area it would be a beast because you can box the channel from Axle to axle.

99 and up superdutys are pretty tough. Front is alright. It will start to bend up in front up the fire wall if you drive it hard. Dont worry about the crush zone if you have the factory leaf brackets around them.

I am planning on running a 79 ford 4x4 highboy and my rules state that I must use a truck bumper. I cannot use a rear bumper on the front or a car bumper. So what is the best front truck bumper to use?
