87-96 How are these trucks for derby? Any tips of these? F-250 if that matters any. 2wd Depends on what you run against. If you are running against those same years you will do alright but IMO they will get smacked around by the 60's and 70's trucks with the same rules. Also 2wd front axles are no bueno. IMO you need a 4wd front axle or straight axle from the 60's to compete.

I have been looking at a 78 ford but it's a step side. Question is will a regular box off a 78-79 fit on these frames just the same or is the wheel base too short? thanks.

If its a step side shortbox then yes a regular short box will fit it...

Does anyone got any videos of a 79 running? Trying to see how they like to bend.

Welding leaf springs will make them brittle from what I recall.....

I have a '79 f150 2wd thats ive been running for 3 years, through 7 derbies, two 1st, three 2nd, a 3rd and a 6th. They definatly like to bend right at the shock tower, and the front frame horns. Luckily i havent had it bend on me anywhere else. ive had three different front clips and frame horns on this truck and finally got it the way i like it. The i beam suspension also bends easy if you get hit in the front wheels. ive ran the ford 351m and c6 all the derbies, with a 3/4 ton rearend. It for sure is a hard truck and i would definatly build another one if i could get my hands on one.
