1983 but get a 4x4 and replace the rubber adaptor at the stering box by a astro van column joint or else your stering column will break when front frame will bend. The astro van joint bolts right up on the truck stering box and weld on the other side on the column.

Would sliding the box all the way into the cab then welding it with 2 3x3 plates per side help? Or would it make it belly faster? 73-87 1/2 2wd

Only thing welding the box to the cab does is strengthen the sheet metal. Trucks bend different than cars. If you want to strengthen the frame use a good frame mounted cage. Or find a better truck. No such thing as a good chevy derby frame .

Last year I ran a late 70s style this year I got a early 90s what are the main differences frame wise and overall stoutness or lack there of haha both are 1/2 tons I won't be swapping axles or anything, very basic build changing bumpers, welding doors, gate and bed to cab. I did weld my a arms down for height last year. Do the frame rails on the 90s trucks like to lay over like on the square bodys this is only our third year for trucks and haven't seen one run yet I figure they'll be about the same but was just wondering what the opinions were.

Picked up 2004 Chevy 2500 4x4 with a 6.0. Was wondering if someone else has run one. I would like to see pics or video to see where they bend. Thanks.
