the closed knuckle ball ended axles are junk had one under a 60s dodge that did fine but never took a tire shot had the same thing under a highboy and took one tire shot and the whole tire hub and everything broke off there is a sort of cap deal top and bottom on them if you run it pull them off and pull the axle shafts out of housing and run some 1" thread rod threw it and suckittight including steering arm and then i welded the I'm Stupid out of it and took it to 2 more shows but your best bet would be a ball joint or king pin axle im building a 60s ford right now wich is getting a gm 10 bolt front axle fits right under it just need diffrent ubolts the stock chev ones willwork and i am 99.9% sure it will fit under a dodge also. just for the record the thread rodded axle will be stronger but will add some slop as the hole is slightly larger but i never had a problem also load the tie rod or make a stronger one they bend easy Thanks, that was kinda what i was expecting would break on those, the rules say I can reinforce the axle housings and says nothing about the just the rear.... I had someone suggest sleeving the front end, maybe cut out the pumpkin.

That front axle you have would be a Dana 70. Dodge first started using them in 1958. I would attempt to pull one knuckle apart to see what the girth is on the king pins and how they are set up. A closed knuckle Dana 70 is much heavier duty than a closed knuckle 44 if your happy with the way the king pins are set up I would gueset the ball top and bottom so not to affect the steering knuckle and give it a try.

It's a one 1961 ton Dodge D-300. With the big six bolt pattern. The drums on the front are massive, so is everything else besides the back of the sphere part that is the only this that would break, from my view. I'll tear it apart, that is the next project on the thing.

Anyone ever derby a Durango? We just junked one out and found out that it's got a full boxed frame bumper to bumper with quite a few braces between them. Wondering just for future knowledge if these are worth anything out on the track.

I too would like to hear if anybody has ran a Durango or not. I know they're a midsized technically but the frames look tough and rear leafs.

They can compete just fine with Chevy. I have ran a 1990 dodge 1/2 ton truck 6 times now. The last two times did not really count much due to only making only one hit each time. Got hung up and broke drive shaft and broken tranny the second time. should I put a Chevy motor in my half ton Dodge or keep the motor and tranny it's my first dodge build any tips?

Anyone ever ran a 98 Dodge 1/2 ton? My first Dodge build, the truck is in great shape, I'm getting a heck of a deal on it. I plan on running pro mod, my rules say, "If you have the time and resources, go for it" lol, what do ya's think. I am putting a 3/4 ton rear end in it as well.

i have a chance to get a 71 d100 straight axle 2wd truck and was wondering if they are any good for a modified class. i am allowed bumper swaps, 7 leafs in the front and 11 in the rear.
