I have no idea, but take a gander at the 4.3 cap. There are just 2 blank spots on it where the 2 other wires would go on a V8 cap.
Finally got me a good Vortec, but gonna have to drive it for awhile.

i know a stock 2 barrel rochester run these good no doubt i got a 2 barrel marine intake on mine. on another note i figured out my oil filter situation for cheap(4.3 is in an s10 blazer with the oil filter up by core support). After going to part stores and junkyards, figuring out sbc oil filter and assembly is too wide, not wanting a relocation kit that would still have lines, i figured out a solution that was sitting on my shop floor. There is a piece on the 2.8/3.1/3100 fwd motors that is for oil filter threads. you can unscrew with allen wrench and then screw into block of 4.3, then you can use a tiny 2.8 oil filter off a 88 beretta, fits nice even with front differential

i used an intake off of a mercuriser boat engine samething as the gm its 2brrl i run a holley 500 2brrl and the only problem i had was finding an intake adapter from that intake which has a small bore rodchesther 2brrl to the 500 holley talked to an old racecar guy from my area told me to make an adapter out of wood and it actually worked great but there is an adapter avalibe for that intake through transdapt my engine run for 10 1/2 mins and was still going strong even after having lost the radiator only thing that made me quit i snapped my throttle cable and made the rookie mistake of not having a backup hope this might help somebody

They sell new stators and caps at the local auto parts store. When I built both of mine years ago there was no information available on here. I have since read rthat a V8 dist will work without any mods. IDK. I only know that I changed the stator ring and cap and have never had any issues.

ok so my 4.3 has been built for a little while now and i finally tried to start it tonight, i built a 93 non vortec and put an adapter plate on it to put a carb on it with an hei dist. But when i try to start it it sounds like the motor is spinning freely not like its cranking like it should be, it will not fire at all. Any help would be appreciated derby is in a little over 2 weeks.

^^^Sounds like no compression. Positive you got the timing gears lined up correctly?

yeah i just checked it and theres no compression...i lined up the dots on the gears when i put the timing chain on and set the dist. with the rotor button pointing at #1 cylinder, gonna do a compression test tomarow on all cylinders but def not getting much on #1...

Make sure the valves are where they are supposed to be when the gears are lined up. Actually bought a timing set once, and one of the gears was marked wrong. Took me days to figure it out.

ok so i am getting no compression at all on any cylinder and the timing marks are lined up but i am also not getting very much oil to the heads or to the timing chain, i took the cover off the timing chain and nothing ran out, same with the heads? ?

Make sure the valves are moving when you crank the engine by hand. If not, it may have snapped the cam. if that happens, valves don't move and oil pump don't spin. Gear mesh on the cam and distributor turns the oil pump. Also, if that happened, the distributor wont be spinning like it should.
Not saying I'm right. It is just a guess, but it wwould explain the combination of lost compression, and lost oil pressure.
