Let's get it started. There just like a small block chevy with two cyls missing. You can use a V-8 distributer with a 6cyl HEI cap.Sounds like it wouldn't work but it does. There was a bunch of info and pics on the old site, anyone still have any?

Why did you say keep em cool widefrikenopen? If there just like a sbc then they should be fine if they get hot.

They sre similiar to a small block chevy however nt the same a 4.3 is a even fire motor the rod journal size is different block cannot be bored more the 40 over or atleast I wouldn't recommend it but when these motor get hot they start going south in a hurry lack of power hard starting short derbies this motors are the way to go real long runs the 2.3 hass the advantage...atleast for now until I get these 4.3s figured out and bulletproof

Started working on mine today,if you grind out the TBI intake and redrill the bolt holes you can bolt on a rochester 2bbl.

It really didn't take long to fit up the carb, the intake was aluminum.

I will be trying out the distributer soon. From the old site-you just use a v-8 distributer and a 6 cyl hei cap. It doesn't sound like it would work but I guess it does.
