Are you using the factory wiring for your pump? Maybe issue there, try directly running the wires for the pump to the battery with a toggle switch on the hotwire this should cure that problem.

The fuel pump is ran direct to battery with a toggle switch on the hot wire. I can't even get the car to fire using either or gas down the intake. It will backfire once and a while but that's about it. It has new plugs in it as of about an hour ago. Unless someone screwed with my car idk what it could be. It is almost acting like the plugs wires are all screwed up, but it was running a month ago. HELP I HAVE 3 DAYS TILL DEMO DAY!

I know you mentioned the ani theft being disabled prior to the first run, sounds like it may be possibly enabled causing and issue. My grand am did the same thing that you are mentioning but was due to a relay or sensor being disconnected. I know it can be a hassle, I worked on my wires for quite a bit tracing and grounding before I was able to nail it. If you got fuel and spark sounds like its not mechanical but electrical which leads me to think a bad ground or possible crank sensor..Hang in there and keep working at it. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

I have now replaced the crankshaft sensor, icm, coils, plugs, and wires. Along with also replacing the intake gasket. We have gotten it to fire on starting fluid and had it almost running on starting fluid but then the anti theft light starts to blink and it dies completely. From all my other experiences with the gm anti theft it shuts down the injectors so I should be able to keep it running on either even with the light flashing. I am starting to wonder if maybe have a warped headed or junk head gasket that is letting it suck air...

After changing everything did you do the theft reset? Im not positive but if the theft is enabled even with fuel it will pop and sputter but not actually run properly.

I like running the fuel pump off the original wire harness. Not saying a hot wire wont work but I have never had a problem this way with theft or anything else.

You are describing exactly what the theft makes them do. I would try some reset procedures

Also pull the gas line off and make sure the fuel pump is pumping alot of gas into a jerry can. They are a high pressure pump and wont run with a bad or low pressure one.

Fuel pump has good pressure and how do I reset the anti theft again without having the ignition completely wired in? I have a push button to start it. Also do we know of a way to completely bypass the anti theft so it won't kick on again?

Hi guys I have done a lot of searching on here and can't seem to figure out why my 98 sunfire with a 2200 won't start. The car is a preran car and I had it running about a month and a half ago. I brought the car back into the garage to do a couple things to it and when I went to start it all it does is crank and acts like it wants to start by firing. I have spark and fuel injector pulse. The GM anti-theft was disabled before the first run. Please help I am hoping to run this car this weekend the 24th of Feb... How did u disconnect the anti theft

The anti theft was disabled by starting the car and cutting the wires that run to the anti theft in the ignition that was done before it was stripped. The car has one run on it and ran fine even after the first demo.
