I think 80s ford bumpers do good as long as you hit square. A hard angled shot to the middle will V them though.

ive ran 1 80s ford bumper on the nose of a car...........never again without adding steel......... 1 hit on the nose of a 77 caddi and it turned the bumper inside out......and 1 hit with each corner wrapped the ends around to where they were just a couple inches away from the frame
IMO comparing any ford bumper ( besides an elite bumper ) to pointys, 74 chevy fronts or 74/75 monte front are like comparing apples and oranges .......they might both be fruit, but thats about it
77-79 cougar/ t bird/ ltdII bumpers arent bad but still collapse.......will last a couple runs seamwelded as long as you dont take weird shots

I am an avid fan of the ford bumpers, but I just picked up a 79 Lincoln Versallies Front bumper, how does this compare to say a 77-79 t-bird bumper

never really understood the "elite" bumper until I crawled under to look at the one in the yard now I understand its going in my collection but Ive had good luck with some ford bumpers. Just check them over they tend to be rusty especially back ones

The LTD bumpers in the 73-78 range are pretty tough seam welded.
