I dont know for sure that is what caused it, just a semi educated guess. I am building my first one right now.... BUT, Ive buit a bunch of front end Imperials. I got my front bumper mounted too high once and had the same outcome. After that I always weld the bumper straight to the beam on Imperials, and am guessing these would be similar.

What would be better stock rear in a '64 or Gm ten bolt c-clip?

I can live with that, anyone have different input than chevyimperial? Like I said, my first suicide and very willing to learn from my mistakes I just want to make sure I learn the right things before I start on the next one. I wonder if there is anyway I can cut that bumper off and lower it without ruining the frame... To the allmighty28 - I think the 64 rear has bolt in's that would trump the GM c-clips.

I got a really stupid question about the crazy Ford rear Im building a 69 Suicide. Rumor has it the factory rearend is a 9 3/8" ring gear. Im hearing that a 9" third member will bolt in...is there any chance a 9" ring and pinion will fit the 9 3/8 case?

A 31-spline 9" center will swap in fine, but I don't think you can interchange the gears. 98% sure. If I am wrong, you can smite me...

Thanks for that. I was pretty sure it couldnt be that simple. I got another question on gearing for these things. Im use to running Imperials on big tracks...but when I moved to WV I encountered tiny little 75x150 tracks. Im seriously considering putting a 5.65 gear behind my 360 in a 2 door suicide. Anybody tried a gear that deep?

Anybody tried a gear that deep? That is pretty low, I have gone as low as 5.13, but I like to stick in the 4's somewhere for the most part. That is, unless you have an engine that really likes to scream or something. Up here our tracks are pretty small as well.

thanks again for the input. Im use to running on a football field size track. Moved a couple years ago and encountered these little tiny tracks for the first time. I typically run a 4.56 gear, but it really seemed like it could have been deeper on the last track I ran.

Sorry for all the questions
Everyone run these high or low in the rear? What is the best way to adapt my slider to the pinon on the rear? Will a GM pinon work on the Ford rear?
