A good option though if you are running a 350/400 is a pipe dipstick. Contact bomber or punisher from no respect racing. I have also have seen people shorten their dipsticks and tubes themselves.

which bop's had the universal transmission to fit chevy as well Not sure on models but the only universal cases were the TH350C and the 200-4R (might be a couple of odd ball TH250s too). TH400s and 700R4's never had universals and the 700 was never available with a BOP patten. All of the universals I have seen were in early 80's cars. Specifically 82 Firebird (200-4R), 83 Buick Regal (350C), 81 Buick LeSabre (200-4R).

Recently picked a up a caprice that has a 400 engine in it, I was under the impression all 400's got a th400 behind them, but when i crawled under the car it has a 350 trans pan. I noticed that th375b has the same pan. Few questions.
1. Did 400's come from the factory with th350's behind them? 2. Is there anyway to externally i.d. a th375b from a th350? 3. Do th350s and th375bs use the same torque converter. 4. I am slightly more familiar with mopars, I know when dealing with those, I have to have a different convertor for a 318 and 360, is this the case for 350's and 400's or are the convertors just trans specific? 5. I have heard you can run a th400 convertor in a th350 to hold more fluid, is there any modifications required for this?

I can answer that question. yes you can run one with out one.... I would not advise it.
I went through about 4 transmissions before I got my cooler. I bought one of scott gropps and all of my transmission issues went away.
There are many other sellers on here that will do just as good of a job.
Its money well spent.

for my transmission dipstick, 1) i measure pull it all out and stick the dipstick back in the tube, and measure how far it sticks out (need this for later) 2) than take that measurement plus the distance to the full mark on the dip (you will need this for when you cut off your dipstick) 3) now add atleast 2 inches (tranny fills up with oil when shut off, don't want it seeping out the dipstick tube) 4) cut the tube off at the total of all the measurements and you have (don't forget to add in the extra inch the tube sit inside the tranny). 5) now simply put the full length dipstick in the cut off tube 6) now from the measurement earlier on of how much the dipstick sticks out past the tube you'll know where to cut off the dipstick 7) next you take the second measurement of how far up the dipstick it was to the full line and measure that out and take a stamper or punch and mark the full like on your dipstick 8) now you have a 3 inch high dipstick and tube. which is easy to check because i'm sure there's a hole cut in the floor for the tranny lines to come into the cab for a tranny cooler. 9) Nicer to top up fluid if there is a leak (hoods tend to get pushed back and bend in the way)
I will try to get some measurements and pictures next time i'm out at my derby grainery -Some place want a hose on your dipstick tube that points down to the ground. None have said anything to me so far with this set up.
