Only derby cars.
10 bolt BIA's were all 28 spline. 31 spline BIA's were all in 12 bolts. The 12 bolt was mainly in 71 to 73 cars...Riv's were all supposed to have them, mostly Buick and Olds I believe. I've found 3, 73 Riv, 73 Custom Cruiser, 72 Delta.
69-70 Olds had the same center section but the bearing was different on the axle, and they were a little narrower.

Gears are available. 10 bolt C-Clip 10 cover bolts, 10 ring bolts, round or cut out cover, 28 spline C-clip. Referred to as 8.5" Ring and pinion same as 10 bolt BIA Gears are available. 12 bolt Cadillac 12 cover bolts, 12 ring bolts, pinion comes out front of case, 28 spline BIA. Axle only have 28 spline but same diameter as 31 spline axles. No gears available steepest stock set 3.15. I have pictures and a better application guide on my website: www.victimizerracing.t35.com

12 bolt Cadillac
12 cover bolts, 12 ring bolts, pinion comes out front of case, 28 spline BIA. Axle only have 28 spline but same diameter as 31 spline axles. No gears available steepest stock set 3.15.
SOMEWHAT INCORRECT.....THE AXLE DIAMETER IS LARGER THAN EVEN A 31 SPLINE 12 BOLT AXLE... THE PASSENGER SIDE CAN BE CUT DOWN, RESPLINED AND USED... AND THE BEARING RETAINER IS THICKER, ALONG WITH A THICKER FLANGE........ ;D

I meant diameter at the splines, never measured anywhere else as it just got bigger so I didn't care.. ;D Altho I never noticed the flange being thicker, or the retaining plate but good info to have. I know the bearing is the same.
I know I read on here somewhere that when getting the one axle cut down it is only a few thousands short of being a 33 spline.
Not sure why GM chose a different diametrical pitch on the Cadillac axles but....

So what axles could I put into the rearends? I would like to get Moser axles one day and have them 33 spline like an earlier thread said to do. But until then where can I find 31 spline axles in what vehicles?

I don't remember the exact addy and my work computer won't let me access it. As far as what those 31 spliners fit it's any fullsize 10 bolt BIA housing with the Raptorfab spool.
