So I am looking to run a Rochester 2 barrel on my pretty much stock 350 chevy for this year. It is a TBi 350 swapped to a edelbrock 4 barrel intake. I normally run mopar engines with holleys but I am switching it up this year as my good motor is still in my imperial. I hear a lot of buzz about these carbs but I am not sure why. Is it as simple as that they are durable and don't sputter with fuel slosh? Basically bolt them on and tune to highest vacuum and set idle RPM and call it good? I have a 600 CFM edelbrock as well but I was told these rochesters are more reliable. I am not worried about making power, just want to be the last one running if possible. Thanks for any help. Also I have read this whole thread and not a lot of detail really, just I run this and you run that.

so are you asking how to set them up or why people use them? Take it apart. give it a good cleaning could tear it down. You could pull the choke plate out and pull all the vacuum lines off and jb weld them shut or just tie chock open and plug all the lines. Check float out make sure in good shape. I like the solid black ones. There are some that came with a white hollow float and they will sometimes get compromised. Turn mix screws in all the way back out 1 and 1 half turn start engine and start backing out one at a time till engine starts to stumble and then go back in a hair to where it cleans up. Repeat for other side and then do it one more time. Set idle. If your idle screw isn't long enough you can loosen the plate that the idle screw hits and turn it so it the bigger step up on it. JB weld or actually weld the throttle plate to the butterfly rod. Have had them break loose there before. Drill 1 sixteenth hole in each butterfly inside the venturi's right next to the rod. Will help with wide open to shut engine stalls. Lets a little air in still to carry fuel away. Careful there is a little ball under the spring for the accelerator pump spring note where it is and make sure you don't lose it. Usually falls out when cleaning. also make sure rod for power valve moves freely. You will be just fine with a stock sbc for power.

This was exactly what I was looking for, a how to build it for derby and kind of a why people use them vs holley vs edelbrock. The one I have my buddy gave me, it was used for hobby stock racing so it has been re-jetted with holley jets and has been hogged out a little. The choke plate is gone as well. It is currently split open sitting in a bucket of chem dip. Only part that confuses me is the drilling the hole in the butterfly, happen to have a pic of it. Seems self explanatory just want to be sure. Drill a hole like so? www.google.com/search?tbs=simg:CAQS9wEJLb8XofgVRxoa6wELELCMpwgaOgo4CAQSFKwxwS2vIqwBng2nL7gBjxWQCIUiGhqdrfAj5GzJzyVWtLXqIqinyeMioLl5tcCTziAFMAQMCxCOrv4IGgoKCAgBEgTVnQb6DAsQne3BCRqLAQoYCgVzb2xpZNqliPYDCwoJL2EvM21nMWNtChkKB21hY2hpbmXapYj2AwoKCC9tLzBka3c1Ch0KCm1vbm9jaHJvbWXapYj2AwsKCS9tLzAxbXdrZgoYCgZjaXJjbGXapYj2AwoKCC9tLzAxdmtsChsKCGN5bGluZGVy2qWI9gMLCgkvbS8wM2hfNG0M&q=rochester+2+jet+throttle+blades&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjUwfrs3pfxAhWHG80KHR4yBKUQwg4oAHoECAEQMQ

yup.... some come without a hole in them. If they don't then put one in... Goes on the side that would flip up. so air flows by where low side comes into the venturi.... good luck...
